Case Study: Elegant and Contemporary Design

Sask Indian Gaming Authority

Saskatchewan Indian and Gaming Authority (SIGA), a First Nations organization, employs over 1,800 people throughout their gaming operations in the Province of Saskatchewan. With certain business drivers behind SIGA’s decision to partner with a First Nation landlord to have a new central office/warehouse facility built to meet the needs of SIGA – SIGA began its journey to source vendor partners early on to get to their desired end state. SIGA engaged Concept3 Business Interiors (C3BI) to assist them in space planning to accommodate the operational requirements of their organization now and into the future; and in turn utilized C3BI’s robust product offerings that best suited the functional design.

Setting aside C3BI’s access to functional furniture/workstations/wall systems for offices, meeting rooms, staff rooms, file rooms, and a boardroom – their assistance in the workspace design, and willingness to work through countless revisions, landed SIGA in a position to select the right product in a final building layout that created a home away from home for every employee. We value project planning and realized early on the statement measure twice and cut once has no value if your design does not meet the functional requirements of the unique departments. Building bridges between space planning design, architectural design, engineering design, electrical design, and other design partners early on will minimize and eliminate the cost of design rework - C3BI knows how to work under a single client project plan with all trades and design partners on small to large-scale projects.”

C3BI started the SIGA project with Teknion’s Altos demountable walls integrated into the base building structure. Full glass office fronts were chosen to allow the maximum amount of light from the exterior windows to flow uninterrupted into the central areas of the building to ensure a positive light influence for all employees. Teknion’s complimentary lines were then chosen in order to provide a homogeneous design throughout the building, starting with the use of the Expansion Desk line with its’ broad range of freestanding applications in all enclosed offices, meeting rooms, mail and storage rooms. This uniform methodology was then continued by using Teknion’s Leverage panel system, Navigate height-adjustable desks and matching lines of filing, tables and cabinetry in order to created a consistent aesthetic throughout the project even though workstation and storage requirements were diverse.

Seating throughout the building was chosen not only to complement and contrast with color, but to purposely encourage a healthy ergonomic posture for employees, to provide natural gathering areas for the sharing and collaboration of ideas, and to add interest into the design for each unique space for an end result that is not only ergonomic and functional, but ornate and comfortable.

As a result, SIGA’s new space is a true showcase of C3BI’s use of Teknion and Studio TK’s diverse and integrated portfolio of products in a complete office design. From Teknion’s Altos demountable wall system that seamlessly integrated into the base building structure, right down to the simplest Teknion and Studio TK chairs, Teknion office furniture is featured throughout SIGA’s entire new building.

C3BI would like to take this opportunity to congratulate SIGA on their new building and we look forward to your continued success in your new bright and beautiful space!
